One of the most important aspects of a forensic fire engineer is the ability to provide a technical analysis and testimony that are both relevant and scientifically reliable.  Mr. Malanga is formally trained and experienced in the physics, chemistry and dynamics of fire, as well as with the interaction of these principles with buildings and structures.  He has also taught in the fields of chemistry, fire science, fire protection system, fire prevention and hazardous materials.

Mr. Malanga is also skilled and knowledgable in other engineering disciplines of the built environment, including structural, mechanical, electrical and chemical.  This enables the comprehensive evaluation of how fires affect buildings, structures and operations.  Mr. Malanga's scientific understanding of fire behavior allows him to relate the cause, origin, development and spread of a fire to physical laws in a manner understandable to all.

In addition to a well-qualified background, which provides solid basis for the requisite analysis, these qualities enable Mr. Malanga to readily and effectively communicate the relevant points.

Mr. Malanga has a demonstrated ability to quantitatively determine the effects of fire protection systems, building construction and ventilation on fire development, spread and life safety of a fire or explosive event, including the development and explanation of meaningful “what-if” or sensitivity analyses that can be presented as part of a sound legal argument.

In addition to a well-qualified background, which provides solid basis for the requisite analysis, these qualities enable Mr. Malanga to readily and effectively communicate the relevant points.

Throughout his career, Mr. Malanga has conducted, participated and led numerous high-profile engineering and scientific level investigations and analyses of fire/explosion events involving a multitude of building, structure and occupancy types as well as in the electric/steam power generation, chemical and manufacturing industries.

Unlike the more subjective opinions and abilities of a conventional fire investigator, who must rely on a different degree of education, field experience and in many instances, anecdotal and unreliable data, FIRE & RISK ENGINEERING applies scientific laws to fire analyses in order to form solid foundation for indisputable arguments.  In addition, FIRE & RISK ENGINEERING provides the experience to identify, interpret and explain the relevant codes, standards, regulations and industry practice that affect the determination of responsibility.
